I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all of you to Ming-De International School Toowoomba, a primary school catering for students in their first year of schooling (Prep) through to Year 6 located in the beautiful city of Toowoomba in the state of Queensland, Australia.
We hope that the Ming-De International School experience for all our students will be a rewarding and stimulating experience. Following a long career in education and previous experiences as Principal, it was an honour to be appointed as the foundation Principal of this fine primary school in July 2021.
The School strives to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where each student feels valued, respected and supported in their journey of growth and learning. We firmly believe in the power of education to shape young minds, foster compassion, and cultivate wisdom. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to guiding our students towards becoming well-rounded individuals who can positively contribute to society.
At the heart of our educational philosophy is the cultivation of ethical values. Values help to guide ethical and moral behaviours by incorporating into their daily learning a focus on developing, practicing and enacting the core values of Sinology and the teachings of the Buddha. These values are woven into every decision we make and apply to all aspects of our curriculum from Prep to Year 6 to create a holistic and balanced approach to learning to equip our students with the tools to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and compassion.
Our curriculum is designed to foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. We offer a wide range of subjects that align with the Australian curriculum (ACARA), ensuring that our students acquire essential knowledge and skills in all key learning areas. Additionally, we integrate Sinology and the teachings of the Buddha across the curriculum, enabling our students to connect their academic learning with ethical awareness and spiritual growth.
Another important aspect of the educational beliefs of the School is the value placed on the importance of the relationship between staff and parent/carer(s), school and home. Staff recognise, encourage, value and support the role of parents/carer(s) and their involvement in our school, cooperating with parents to provide education for their children. Parents are a child’s first teacher. They teach essential life and academic skills while providing love and support that help students healthily develop. When teachers partner their ability to inspire thought and creativity with the foundational support parents provide, students are better prepared to have a positive school experience.
