Board of Directors

Ming-De has formalised the respective roles and responsibilities of the School Board and the Principal. The School Board believes that its current members provide the mix of skills and diversity necessary to guide Ming-De to achieve its strategic goals and objectives.

The Current Members of the Ming-De International School Toowoomba Inc are:

Venerable Wuhsing

( Leslie TAN )

Venerable Wuhsing, also known as Leslie Yuh-Lih Tan is a resident nun of Pure Land Learning College Association Incorporated (PLLCA). She is the Board Chair of Ming-De International School and former secretary of the PLLCA. In 1997, Ven. Wuhsing was ordained as a Buddhist nun by the Venerable Master Chin Kung. She has a Bachelor degree in Biology from University of Houston. Ven. Wuhsing devotes herself to help English-speaking friends to understand, to learn, and to practise Buddhism, so as to guide them to lead a better life, mentally and spiritually. While in the United States, she started a Buddhist Meditation Workshop to teach Pure Land Buddhism. She divides her time between the U.S. and Australia, and assist with the works or events organized by the PLLCA.

Inspired by the Venerable Master’s sincere words on how important it is for youth to develop morals, and why early and middle childhood is a crucial stage to learning Chinese traditional morals and ethics, she wholeheartedly dedicated herself to help Ming-De International School with its programs and works. She hopes her contributions can make small differences in the children's growth.

Venerable Wuchin

( Hui Loo WEE )

Venerable Wuchin (also known as Hui Loo Wee) is the secretary of the Ming-De International School Toowoomba.

She obtained a degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering and Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

For several years, she volunteered as a Buddhist Chaplain and shared Buddhist values and causality with students at the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Services at the University of Queensland.

Learning from Venerable Master Chin Kung, she realizes the importance of traditional universal values of filial piety and respect for people in life. When moral and ethics are learnt and applied from a young age, one will have the wisdom to face the challenges in society and the world. This in turn will be beneficial to bringing peace and happiness to oneself and to others.

She hopes to support the well-rounded education of Ming-De International School Toowoomba.

Venerable Wu Zhuang

( Chio-Chen SHAO )

Venerable Wu Zhuang also known as Ms. Shao, Chio-Chen, is one of the founders of Ming-De international school Toowoomba. She has been ordained as a female monk for over 30 years. She dedicates wholeheartedly to Ming-de International School, its students, and virtuous ideals. Follow all Saint’s teaching, she always emphasizes on the importance of “Be filial piety to our parent and respect to our teacher”. It is the root of all wonderful virtues and the birthplace of all education.

Kiat Yeong LAI

Mr. Lai (Vincent) has been involved in property investments and developments for over 30 years, which include hotel, commercial buildings and school. The latest project is a school in Melaka, West Malaysia. It is a school built under specific instructions from Venerable Master Chin Kung. It is a school dedicated for the teaching of Di Zi Gui (based on teaching of the Chinese philosopher Confucius) and teachings of the ancient sages, which is similar to the philosophy of Ming-De International School Toowoomba.

Mr Lai is currently a Member of Board of Director of Nanyang Kindergarten and Nanyang Primary School in Singapore. A position he held for over 15 years. Nanyang Primary School is a much coveted and prestigious school in Singapore with more than 2000 students. Together with Nanyang Kindergarten, the school is responsible for nurturing children of age 4-12. Mr. Lai also involved in the creative direction in the design of the school in their latest major upgrading project which won then an International Design Award.

Liying ZHOU

Ms. Liying Zhou is a Board member of the Ming-De International School Toowoomba.

Ms. Zhou obtained her Master's Degree in Acupuncture from the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 1990.

She is currently a senior university lecturer of TCM in Australia and has been teaching TCM for over thirty years.

She is a nationally registered TCM Practitioner with over thirty years of experience in practicing TCM in hospitals and clinics across China, New Zealand and Australia.

She has also been holding various free online classes and seminars such as “TCM Foundation Theory” at the Academy of Sinology in the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in UK.

Ms. Zhou is inspired by Venerable Master Chin Kung’s teachings promoting the concepts, ”Building a nation begins with education” and “Buddhism is an education rather than a religion”.

She is fully committed to helping develop Ming-De International School and hopes to help propagate Venerable Master Chin Kung's teachings to the youth and encourage the continual learning and practicing of Traditional Chinese Culture and core values in order to bring peace and harmony to the world.
